Jake O’Connor Is our youth ministry director.  Jake loves to help kids of all ages personalize their faith through Bible studies, service projects and community building events. Jake’s enthusiasm and personality push children and youth to build relationships with each other and with Jesus.

Jake grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from the University of Iowa in 2015 with a degree in civil engineering. However, in his last year at school, God put children’s and youth ministry on his heart and he has been pursuing that ever since. Jake has volunteered with the youth groups at First Presbyterian Church in Marion, served as a work projects coordinator for a summer with Youthworks, interned for a year at Platte City United Methodist Church and Heartland Camp near Kansas City, MO and brings years of camp experience (as a camper, counselor and program director) at Camp Bear Creek.

Outside of work, Jake loves to hike outdoors, play and watch all sports (Hockey is his favorite!), and spend time with his family and friends.

Dawn O’Connor is our Children’s Ministry Director.  Dawn graduated from Iowa State University with an Elementary Education degree (go Cyclones!) She is a 5th grade teacher at Cal-Wheat Elementary as my “day job” and love teaching math and science. She has a class pet – Alfie the turtle. Dawn loves inspiring curiosity in my students and asking questions.

Dawn says “BPC has been a blessing in our lives since we moved to the area, and it is exciting to give back to the great families here. I believe that kids should be surrounded by God’s love from a young age, be given opportunities to serve others, be prayed over, pray for others, hear the stories from the Bible, and know they are capable of having a relationship with Jesus at any age.”
In her free time, Dawn loves being outdoors, playing disc golf, walking our dog, running, reading, listening to music, and eating ice cream daily.

You can reach Dawn at bettpreskids@gmail.com.
