Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
It is with a sad heart that I announce we are reversing the course regarding opening the church building for worship services. As we continue to see a significant spike in the number of positive Covid-19 tests in Scott county (and the rest of QCA) as well as increases in local hospitalizations due to the virus, your session feels it is prudent to discontinue phase 1 of our reopening at this time.
As always, the mission and ministry of the church will continue! While we may not be able to be physically present with one another, we continue to be committed to loving and serving God by loving and serving each other and the community in which we live.
We will also continue our online worship service each Sunday. We are moving back the livestream to 10 am beginning this Sunday, and you will be able to watch the worship service at any time after it initially airs. The livestream will continue to be accessible via the church’s YouTube (www.youtube.com/c/bettendorfpresbyterian) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/bettpres/live) sites as well as linked from our webpage.
I know how anxious we all are to get back to some kind of normality regarding in-person gatherings, whether that’s worship, fellowship or small group education! However, until it is safe to do so we are committed to being the church in different ways. It might sound cliché but the church is not a building – it is the community of faithful who are committed to being the presence of God in the midst of the world. To that end, my friends, let us celebrate the ways we – as the church – have left the building and are looking for new and unique ways to bring the love and grace of God to our corner of his kingdom.
Yours in Christ,
