Faith in Action Sunday- Sept. 2 @9am
We talk about love a lot. Jesus was all about loving others and sent the church out to do the same. But what is love from the church’s view? Is it a feeling? An adjective? A good talking point? We’re going to spend the month of August talking about loving our neighbor as ourselves, mark your calendars and plan to join us for this exciting series! We will be concluding with a special Faith in Action Sunday on September 2nd with a service at 9am and several projects for us to do together as a community so we might become a congregation who truly loves our neighbors and out neighborhoods.
We have set up several wonderful service projects for you to participate in- some of them right here at church, so come to worship and stay for service! You can sign up for a project either on the board in the narthex or by clcking this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e49a8a623a7f58-faith
Sept 2. Projects-
*Hope at the Brick House- Volunteers will travel to Hope at the Brick House following worship to perform general cleaning, organization and maintenance to this valuable ministry.
*Humility of Mary Meal site- Volunteers will prepare and serve a hot meal to the homeless at the Humility of Mary shelter in Davenport. (Must be 18 or older)
*Habitat for Humanity- There will be building materials delivered in the lower lot of the church parking lot. Habitat volunteers will be onsite to guide in the assembly of frames to be used on building projects in the area. Volunteers should bring a hammer and expect to serve for around two hours. No building experience needed.
*Kids Against Hunger- Volunteers will gather in the fellowship hall to assemble packages of meals for the hungry.
*Car Wash- Volunteers will gather in the front parking lot for a $1 car wash, with a fun twist. The perfect project for our teens/youth!
*Roadside cleanup- Are you ever disgusted by the amount of litter along our roadsides? Do your part to take care of it as we join with “I Live Here QC” to pick up trash in our neighborhoods! Volunteers will be given a specific block to walk and are provided with bags, gloves and pickers.
