About Sunday School (for Kindergarten - 8th Grade)

September 7, 2008 from 4:30-6:30PM – Back to Sunday School Kick Off Cookout, including family fun and information about the new children’s programs for the new school year.
First day of Sunday School, September 14. 2008 at 10:05AM with all grades (Preschool -8th) gathering in the Fellowship Hall to have an opening pray and spend a few minutes singing praises to God. Then the Preschool and Middle School children will be dismissed to their rooms downstairs and K-5th grade will remain in Fellowship Hall for the duration of the Sunday School hour.
Celebration Sunday is the first Sunday of every month when Preschool-8th grade will get together in Fellowship Hall to celebrate together with prayer, music, stewardship, a health spot visit from our parish nurses, crafts, snacks and an introduction to our Bible lesson for the month. Preschool and Middle School will only spend the first few minutes with the big group on Celebration Sunday and then dismiss to their Sunday School rooms with their teachers, as they are on a traditional schedule and will have a regular lesson each week.
The children in K-5th grade have an opportunity to participate in a new style of Sunday School called the Rotation Model. The three age divisions for these groups are K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th. There will be one Bible lesson per month, but each group will hear the lesson and experience the lesson in a different way each week (for example music & movement, science lab, crafts, newspaper/broadcasting). Children in these age groups learn best through experience and repetition and have fun while learning.
Preschool and Middle School (6th-8th grade) will continue to use the Faith Weaver Curriculum, and have weekly lessons in their Sunday School rooms. So, on the First Sunday of every month (Celebration Sunday) these children will meet in Fellowship Hall, and will go downstairs as a group after some fellowship time with all the other children. The last three weeks of the month, these children will report straight to their Sunday School rooms. Parents, you can pick up your Preschooler from their room downstairs every week.
The K-1st grade, 2nd-3 grade and 4th-5th grade classes should report to the Fellowship Hall every week where Sunday School teachers will be waiting to greet them. From there they will proceed to their learning station for the day with their teachers guiding them and staying with them for the whole hour.
