Fall Growth Groups

We have survived a very wet summer, and we are looking forward to a great Fall. Why not make it an even greater Fall by growing deeper in your faith. We have an awesome group of "six" growth groups for this Fall. There is something for everyone. We will be starting our sign-ups this weekend, August 22, and we will be continuing our sign-ups through September 19. The week of September 19 will be our first week of group meetings, so put that on your calendars. By starting the 19th we will be able to finish our trimester when Advent starts.

There are many ways to sign up, starting with dropping me an e-mail at bpcsmallgroup@hotmail.com. You can also call me at (563) 650-8828. You can also sign up at church. We will have a table in the narthex every week with someone there to answer any questions you may have and provide you with a card to sign up. Grow deeper in your faith this Fall! You will be glad you did.

Leaders: Karri Mart and Melanie Posten
Time: Sunday mornings during Sunday School
Location: Adult Sunday School Classrooms

What if you only had one month to live? What changes would you make in your life? Kerry and Chris Shook's New York Times best-seller, One Month to Live: Thirty Days to a No-Regrets Life encourages readers to face their own mortality and live life to the absolute fullest.

With eye-opening insights and soul-inspiring truths, One Month to Live challenges readers to embrace the life God has entrusted to them and to live it out moment by moment with wholehearted authenticity, honesty and integrity.

Each of One Month to Live's 30 chapters - one for every day in a life-changing month - offers fresh strategies for overcoming habits that mire Christians in mediocrity.

GG #3: NOOMA Video Series
Leader: Pastor Troy
Time: 7-8:30pm
Location: At the Church

We can get anything we want, from anywhere in the world, whenever we want it. That’s how it is and that’s how we want it to be. Still, our lives aren’t any different than other generations before us. We want spiritual direction, but it has to be real for us and available when we need it. We want a new format for getting Christian perspectives. NOOMA is that new format. It’s short films that speak to us. Each NOOMA touches on issues that we care about, that we want to talk about. (From the NOOMA series)

GG #4: He Said What???
Leader: Steve Bergman
Time: TBD (consensus of group members)
Location: TBD (consensus of group members)

This summer we patterned our growth groups on the sermon series Christianity 101. Each week we studied the message that had just been preached and moved deeper into the week’s topic.

That is what we will be doing this Fall. “He Said What??” follows what Pastor Troy will be preaching on this Fall. Come join us and deepen your understanding our Sunday messages.

GG #5: MidWeekers Prayer
Leader: Tsitsi Bergman
Time: Anytime that fits your schedule
Location: Wherever you read your e-mails (home, work, cell)

I am delighted to welcome everyone in our congregation to a MidWeek prayer time. Through affirmation and visualization, I will lead you in prayer via e-mail. My hope is for all of us to renew our desire for 100% connection with God; everyday.

About two years ago, I found myself floundering in some of life’s most simple things because my life was so cluttered with …well everything else except time with God. By the time Thursday came around, I seemed to have lost connection with…well again God.

This experience is designed to renew, awaken and strengthen our prayer life for our church.

MidWeekers Mission:
1. We have set time aside to pray midweek with one heart as channels of love and peace in God's world.
2. We recognize there is no one-way to pray and what works well for one person may not work well for another.
3. No matter how we do this, in the end, we hope to be working wherever God is working.
4. The Lie: "This problem is too big, it cannot be fixed"
5. The Truth: "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." Jeremiah 32:17

MidWeekers Commitment:
1. Sign up.
2. I send you the prayer by email.
3. You read the email…which is a prayer.
4. Submit a prayer request.

GG #6: Young Professionals Group (20 and 30’s)
Leaders: Chris and Janna Werner
Time: Tuesdays at 6:30pm
Location: TBD

Jesus was a master storyteller. Whether he was addressing a large crowd on a hillside or sharing a private meal with friends, He often taught in stories to make his point in a way that might be easier understood for his intended audience. These timeless parables Jesus told challenged people 2000 years ago to deepen their relationship with God and challenge us to do the same in 2010. Join us as we study 8 of Jesus' best-known parables and explore their deep implications to us as we learn to live for Christ.
