Chris Werner, Minister of Music
Chris Werner is a 2003 graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL where he received his Bachelor of Arts in music education. In addition to performing in the Collegiate Chorale and Augustana Choir at Augustana, he was also a member of jazz combos playing the tenor saxophone. He also founded, organized, and directed the Augustana Vocal Jazz Choir which he ran for three years.
From 2003-2005, Chris was a chorus teacher at Williams Intermediate School in Davenport, where he directed the 6th and 7th grade chorus and a vocal jazz choir which received a superior rating and a first place rank in competition.
Chris was the director of music at Newcomb Presbyterian Church for three years, where he directed the children's chorus, chancel (senior) choir, two contemporary music groups, co-directed VBS, planned worship music, and organized an alternative worship service.
Chris writes:
“Foremost, I believe that Jesus Christ is our risen Lord and Savior. I believe that He died for my iniquities and my sins. Our worship is an important, vital part of what we do as Christians. We should worship with all our heart, mind, and soul so we can give Christ the thanks He rightly deserves.
My position and focus at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church is to maintain the rich traditions firmly embedded and loved within the church. While keeping traditions strong, I hope to enhance worship with a broad variety of music, and strengthen the faith of myself and those I work with. My goal as a minister of music is to help this congregation achieve its vision statement and to help create disciples for Christ.
